US Congress OKs unprecedented codification of warrantless surveillance

The US Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 is now headed to President Obamas desk. The bill was passed by the Senate with a new section, Section 309, that the House hadnt considered. The new section gives the government virtually unlimited access to the communications of every American without a warrant, and allows for enciphered material to be stored in the U.S. without a court order.
