The US Department of Justice indicted 12 Russian intelligence agents on hacking charges related to the 2016 US Presidential Election. The DOJ claims the group is responsible for hacking the computer systems of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and the Democratic National Committee. The group also stands accused of creating the Guccifer 2.0 persona through which they tried to claim responsibility for the DNC hack. The announcement comes just days before President Trump’s planned meeting with his Russian counterpart, President Putin, scheduled for July 16.
