U.S. Brokerage Firm to Pay $375K for Breach

US brokerage D.A. Davidson has agreed to pay $375,000 to settle charges of lax security practices. Lax security practices allowed criminal hackers from Latvia to steal 192,000 customers’ confidential information. The brokerage has been accused of allowing criminal hackers to pilfer confidential information from its customers’ computers in Latvian state. The company says it will pay a total of $500,000 in the settlement to the Latvians, which includes $1.5 million in damages.
