US arrests suspect who stole unpublished books in phishing attacks

Fillippo Bernardini, 29, was arrested Wednesday at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. He allegedly used fake email accounts linked to over 160 domains spoofing literary talent agencies, publishing houses, and literary scouting agencies. Bernardini is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison if found guilty of wire fraud and another two years for a count of aggravated identity theft. Margaret Atwood, Sally Rooney, and Ethan Hawke were among those targeted in Bernardini’s multi-year scheme.”]
