Universities still need to learn how to get proactive about cybersecurity

Australian Catholic University (ACU) and Australian National University (ANU) reported high-profile university breaches in June. Cybersecurity expert Ashish Thapar warns that other institutions are likely to follow suit unless they invest in cybersecurity defences. 86.1 percent of breaches in the education sector were propagated through web channels, compared to just 61.4 percent of attacks on education targets using email delivery, Verizons DBIR 2019 said. Around 79% of attacks had financial motivations, with a smattering of state-affiliated or cyber-espionage cases rounding out the figures.”]
