UK Proposes Regulations to Curb Illicit Use of Crypto

UK has proposed two new pieces of legislation to regulate digital assets and curb the use of virtual currency in illicit activity. The Financial Services and Markets Bill aims to leverage the “opportunities of innovative technologies in financial services” The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill also aims to tackle economic crime, including fraud and money laundering. The announcement was part of the Queen’s Speech, a portion of which was read by Prince Charles at the opening of the U.K.’s new Parliament session. The bills strike a good balance between protecting consumers and investors and encouraging crypto innovation in the UK.”]
