U.S. Justice Department announces arrest of a married couple in connection with conspiring to launder cryptocurrency worth $4.5 billion. The money was stolen during the hack of the virtual currency exchange Bitfinex in 2016. The law enforcement got hold of over $3.6 billion in cryptocurrency by following the money trails. In 2019, Israeli authorities apprehended two brothers, Eli and Assaf Gigi, over their supposed involvement in the 2016 security breach. Both Lichtenstein and Morgan have been charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, which carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.”]
