Sarah Scalet used a free calling card designed to allow caller ID spoofing. Scalet says it’s easy to call a toll-free number and punch in a few codes. She says it was easier than it would have to get a customer service rep from her credit card company on the line. The House of Representatives passed H.R. 5126, “The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2006,” which would make it illegal “to cause any caller identification service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information with the intent to defraud””]
