Latvian malware developer known as Max has been arraigned on 19 counts related to fraud, identity theft, information theft and money laundering. Alla Witte, known in cybercrime circles by the handle Max, was arrested in February in Miami. Witte is accused of working with others in the transnational criminal organization to develop and deploy a suite of malware tools used to target businesses and individuals for theft and ransom. If convicted, she could face decades in prison.
