Hackers exploited a zero-day vulnerability in Trend Micros OfficeScan anti-virus product. Trend Micro has previously boasted in its marketing materials that Mitsubish Electric is one of its customers. Any sophisticated piece of software is likely to have bugs, but the hackers are the real culprits here are not the company whose product was exploited by hackers.
