The Week in Ransomware – September 13th 2019 – Exploit Kits

This week was your standard mix of new variants of existing ransomware and new ransomware families being released. In addition, numerous exploit kits were detected pushing ransomware and other malware as well as increased distribution of Nemty through a fake PayPal site. Of particular interest is a data exfiltration Trojan that contains numerous references to Ryuk Ransomware. The issue occurred over the past weekend and affects all offices the company has across the country. A new malware with strange associations to the Ryuk malware has been discovered to look for and steal confidential financial, military, and law enforcement files.
