The FBI could have saved money with this iPhone 5c hack

A security researcher has demonstrated a way to unlock an iPhone 5c used by the San Bernardino shooter. Sergey Skorobogatov at the University of Cambridge used a technique known as NAND mirroring to bypass the passcode retry limit. The FBI reportedly paid a contractor less than $1 million to hack the phone, sparking a major legal tussle over privacy and security. It took four months of his spare time to understand how to successfully copy the phones memory and exploit it.”]
