Target’s CIO, Beth Jacob, is the first high-level executive to leave following a massive data breach over the Christmas holiday shopping season. Jacob was the CIO at the time of the massive breach that led to the theft of 40 million credit and debit card records, along with another 70 million customer records. Target plans to elevate the role to chief information security officer as part of its plan to tighten security. Its also creating a new position: chief compliance officer.
