Stadler, a Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock disclosed a data breach, hackers attempted to blackmail the company. Attackers compromised the IT network of the company and deployed some of its machines with malware that was used to exfiltrate data from the infected devices. The company did not pay the ransom and has resumed operations by restoring its backups. The rail vehicle manufacturer is investigating the incident with the help of external security experts.
