Surging data-breach volumes highlight regulations visibility bump

Australian companies’ data breaches are costing more than those affecting any other country in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Ciscos 2018 Asia Pacific Security Capabilities Benchmark Study. Just 24 percent of Australian breaches were reported by a third-party data source, the study found. The number of records breached during the first quarter of fiscal 2019 doubled during the same period, Gemalto’s first-quarter figures for H1 2019 added 245 Australian breaches to the previous-quarter totals. Early fines for GDPR violations have already been met with legal challenges.”]
