Supermarket Laptop With Employee Data Stolen

A laptop with the pension data of former employees of three supermarket chains was lost. The data included names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, benefit amounts and administrative information. The computer was password protected, but the data was not encrypted, a spokeswoman for the parent company says. Royal Ahold owns four supermarket chains in the Eastern United States: Stop & Shop, Giant Food Stores, Giant Foods and Tops Markets. The four chains have about 139,000 employees combined, the AP reports.”]
