South Carolina Revenue Department Breached

3.6 million Social Security, 387,000 Credit Card Numbers exposed in South Carolina. 16,000 unencrypted debit and credit card numbers were exposed, the state says. The state didn’t immediately notify the public as soon as the breach was discovered. No public funds were accessed or put at risk as a result of the breach, a spokeswoman says. Gov. Nikki Haley says the number of records exposed requires an unprecedented, large-scale response by the state. No other intrusions have been uncovered; the vulnerability in the system was closed and secured.”]
