Software vendors should respond to actively attacked vulnerabilities within seven days, Google says

Google wants vendors to fix or offer mitigation advice for zero-day software vulnerabilities within seven days. Google researchers propose a public disclosure deadline of 60 days for critical vulnerabilities in 2010. Security experts say Google’s new recommendation will most likely be followed by the company’s own security researchers. It remains to be seen if the recommendation will also be adopted by third-party researchers or if it will influence vendors. Microsoft prefers to use the Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD) process to coordinate with affected vendors.”]
