The Clop group attacked Software AG, a German conglomerate with operations in more than 70 countries, threatening to dump stolen data if the whopping $23 million ransom isn t paid. On Saturday, the company confirmed that the crooks were releasing company data, according to reports. The company has shut down internal systems as a security precaution, but the effects of the cyberattack are dragging on. The group continues to terrorize companies with a tactic called double extortion, meaning it steals the data and if their ransom demands aren met, the data is dumped on a criminal website.
