Smart LED Lightbulbs Can be Hacked too; Vulnerability exposes Wi-Fi Passwords

Security researchers have found a security flaw in the LIFX smart bulbs. The bulbs are available to buy in the UK and can be controlled by iOS and Android devices. Researchers were able to obtain the secret key shared between bulbs on the network, making it easy for the attacker to get access to the network. An attacker would need to be within wireless range of a vulnerable bulb to perform this attack. The manufacturer has released a firmware update to its smart bulb firmware to secure the process. The company said it was unaware of any users being affected by the issue.
