UK-based cyber-defense company Darktrace published a report last week. The report details nine case studies from hacks investigated by Darktrace. Two detail attacks on smart drawing pads used to carry out DDoS attacks as part of an IoT botnet. Another case involves a smart fish tank used to steal over 10GB of data from a North American casino, which was connected to its own VPN network, but managed to break through to the mainframe and steal data from the organization. Other hacking scenarios detailed in the Darktrace report include the case of a US insurance company whose servers were hacked by a cryptocurrency miner.
