Shylock banking malware infections are up and targeting 24 major banks in particular. Malware researchers have noticed a rise in infections of late; the malware has been in circulation since 2011. Most of the infections are happening in the U.K., Italy, Denmark and Turkey. The initial infection point is unknown, but the malware is adept at hiding its tracks. It uses a Domain Generation Algorithm to route phone-home traffic through a number of IPs created using self-signed SSL certificates.
