The operators behind the Shade Ransomware (Troldesh) have shut down their operations, released over 750,000 decryption keys, and apologized for the harm they caused their victims. The ransomware operators apologize for their actions and provide instructions on how to recover files using the released keys. Kaspersky Lab’s Sergey Golovanov confirmed that the keys are valid and was able to use them to decrypt a test machine. The decryption tool is not very straight forward, and victims may have trouble getting it to work correctly.
