Senator Asks US Government to Remove Flash From Federal Sites, Computers

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden wants US agencies to remove Flash content from government websites by August 1, 2019. Adobe Flash’s end-of-life date is scheduled for 2020, after which Adobe will cease to provide any support for the software. Wyden is hoping to avoid a similar situation like Windows XP, which Microsoft retired in 2014. Only 4.9% of today’s websites use Flash code, a number that has plummeted from a 28.5% market share recorded at the start of 2011.
