Three security researchers have discovered security vulnerabilities in telematics control units (TCUs) used in BMW, Ford, Infiniti, and Nissan vehicles. The TCUs are 2G modems that are used by modern vehicles to transfer data, they enable the communications between the car and remote management tools such as web panels and mobile apps. The researchers are Mickey Shkatov, Jesse Michael, and Oleksandr Bazhaniuk from the Advanced Threat Research Team at McAfee.
