A class action lawsuit has been filed against Schnuck Markets Inc., the St. Louis-based grocery store chain. Schnucks announced its point-of-sale network had been attacked by a “malicious computer code” The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for consumers affected by the breach. It alleges Schnucks’ failure to adequately protect cardholder data exposed customers’ personally identifiable information. The lawsuit also questions whether Schnucks was in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard at the time of the attack. An analyst at Gartner says most class action lawsuits against retailers and processors prove fruitless.”]
