Say hello to net neutrality FCC votes to protect the open internet

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to protect net neutrality on Thursday. The new regulations were passed with a vote of 3-2, with the Commissions two Democratic appointees joining Chairman Tom Wheeler in voting yes. The most controversial aspect of the decision is the reclassification of fixed and mobile broadband as a telecommunications service, with providers to be regulated as common carriers under Title II of the Communications Act.
