Russian Ring Blamed for Retail Breaches

Russian ring known as Anunak has been targeting U.S. merchants and payments processors with malware. Group-IB and Fox-IT report: An Ununak’s attention is shifting toward banks in Western markets. The hackers are breaking into banks’ ATMs by compromising their networks and installing malware onto the machines. The group also targeted 50 banks in Russia and a handful of news media and public relations firms in various parts of the world, the report says. The report doesn’t identify the specific U.K. retailers targeted by AnUnak, Forbes and security blogger Brian Krebs say.”]
