Russian Hacker Gets 9-Year Jail for Running Online Shop of Stolen Credit Cards

Russian hacker Aleksei Burkov sentenced to nine years in federal prison. He pleaded guilty to running two websites dedicated to facilitating payment card fraud, computer hacking, and other crimes. The 30-year-old pleaded guilty in January to two of the five charges against him for credit card fraud. Most of the charges were related to U.S. citizens and used to make over $20 million in fraudulent purchases. Burkov was arrested at Ben-Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel, in December 2015.
