Russian threat intelligence firm Group-IB alleges that North Korea is behind recent attacks against European banks. The firm says it “collected a broad range of data, both technical and strategic,” which places “clear attribution” on North Korea. But other experts caution that such conclusions shouldn’t be made solely based on technical data. The most brazen such SWIFT incident led to $81 million being stolen in February 2016 from the central bank of Bangladesh’s account at the New York Federal Reserve.
