Russian Botnet Operator Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

Russian national Aleksandr Brovko, 36, sentenced to eight years in federal prison. He was extradited to the U.S. following his arrest in the Czech Republic as part of a crackdown on Russian online forums selling banking data. Prosecutors say he used the harvested data to commit various financial frauds or repackaged the data and sold it to other cybercriminals. Between 2007 and 2019, he and a co-conspirator stole 40,000 credit card numbers and infected 500,000 computers using their botnet.”]
