RIM Makes Hostile Takeover Bid for Encryption Firm

Research In Motion’s hostile bid for Canadian security firm Certicom Corp. could make BlackBerry a safer choice for enterprise customers, analysts say. BlackBerry maker made all-cash offer after reporting lower-than-expected third-quarter earnings. RIM’s own public statements revealed the company has been trying unsuccessfully to negotiate with the firm since February of last year.
