Researchers Find First Android Malware Targeting Gingerbread

Malware “GingerMaster” exploits a critical vulnerability in Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread. Researchers find samples tucked into legitimate apps on Chinese download sites. The malware, dubbed GingerMaster, can root or completely compromise the mobile operating system. McAfee says hackers have pushed Android into their No. 1 target by crafting more threats against that mobile OS than any other. The volume of Android malware has jumped this year, according to several antivirus vendors, experts say, this year.”]
