Report: Spies Stole SIM Encryption Keys

British-U.S. intelligence team allegedly hacked into world’s largest maker of SIM cards, report says. Hackers stole encryption keys for the encryption of the SIM card encryption keys, it says. SIM cards are designed to ensure the security and privacy of cellular phone calls worldwide. Gemalto, based in Amsterdam, manufactures about 2 billion SIM cards per year, which are used by 450 wireless network providers around the world. The company says it had no prior knowledge that intelligence agencies were conducting this operation.”]
