Report: Ransomware Targets QNAP Storage Devices

Ransomware strain called eCh0raix is targeting storage devices sold by QNAP Network. The malware exploits vulnerabilities in the gear and bypasses weak credentials using brute-force techniques. The infected systems were not fully patched, and others reported detections of failed login attempts. In the U.S., the company is believed to have 19,000 publicly facing QnAP devices, which could be susceptible to this particular strain of ransomware. This is the second time this year that malware has been discovered on Qnap’s NAS devices.”]
