Facebook stored 200-600 million passwords in plaintext, some of which date to 2012. The social media giant says no one from outside the company accessed the data. Facebook says it has stopped the practice and that no one improperly accessed the passwords. Facebook is only the latest example of companies that have exposed user passwords through plaintext. The company is still investigating a data breach that its engineers first found in September 2018, which affected some 30 million users after attackers found a vulnerability in the site’s “View As” feature.”]
