With the emergence of the COVID-19 virus and countries going into lockdown, the virtual space became the place to conduct and provide services. Remote working now became the new normal all over the world.
Key points:
- Of the world workforce, about 40% are now working from home, which now raised to the concern of a cyber-attack.
- The only way to 100% guarantee that an attack cannot occur is to completely disconnect for the virtual space.
- Whether employees are using company devices or their own, users are susceptible to malicious attacks.
- The best option is to provide awareness to users and ensuring measures are in place to protect data.
- Protection is extended to remote workers through multiple authentication methods of access for Virtual Private Network connectivity, screening and monitoring company VPN traffic, and having proper anti-malware software installed.
- Without these systems in place, users are vulnerable to phishing attacks for personal data, or spyware installed for spying on user’s activity.
