The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued an alert to financial institutions on the recent wave of DDoS strikes. DDoS attacks have been used as tools of distraction to perpetrate customer account fraud or steal proprietary information. Banks should incorporate information sharing with other banks and service providers into their risk mitigation strategies, the OCC says. The OCC also notes that banks should consider due diligence reviews of service providers, such as Internet service providers and Web-hosting servicers to ensure they, too, have taken the necessary steps to identify and mitigate potential risks.”]
