Regulator Warns of DDoS, Fraud Link

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued an alert to financial institutions on the recent wave of DDoS strikes. DDoS attacks have been used as tools of distraction to perpetrate customer account fraud or steal proprietary information, the OCC says. Banks should consider due diligence reviews of service providers to ensure they have taken the necessary steps to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with DDoS. The OCC also recommends that institutions have sufficient staffing for the duration of the attacks, in conjunction with pre-contracted third-party services.”]
