The judges took the lid off of their decisions for the good, bad, and ugly in security research and epic ownage during the past year. Sony was given the award for Most Epic Fail, while Microsoft was lambasted for its handling of the SecurID breach incident. Microsoft won the Best Privilege Escalation Bug award for its discovery of 40-odd Windows kernel win32k user-mode callback vulnerabilities. Stuxnet malware was given a nod at the U.S. government’s involvement in the development of the malware.”]
