Puerto Rico’s Electric Utility Hacked in Weekend Attack

Puerto Rico’s power utility company PREPA was attacked on Sunday. No customer records were compromised and no impact on the electrical grid. The biggest effect of the attack was on wait times at the utility’s customer service center. The perpetrators are currently unknown, but PREPA is working with authorities to identify the hacker and ensure that no damage remained in the system. PREPA has suffered a number of setbacks in recent months, from an aging physical infrastructure to bankruptcy to Hurricane Maria, among other setbacks.”]
