Google is in the process of adding support to Chrome OS for running containerized Linux applications. A commit was spotted in the operating system’s source code last week by Reddit users. The feature is called Project Costini and is expected to land with Chrome OS v66, scheduled for release in April-May. Google hopes to keep developers on Chrome OS to attract developers to the Chrome OS ecosystem. It’s the same reason Microsoft added the Windows Subsystem for Linux in Windows 10 to run Linux apps.
