Privacy Analysis: Google Accesses Patient Data on Millions

Ascension Health System is working with Google in a project dubbed Nightingales project. Ascension is providing Google access to the health information of millions of its patients in 20 states and the District of Columbia. Google contends that the data sharing is HIPAA compliant. Neither patients nor physicians were informed that Google was collecting the data, according to the Wall Street Journal. A whistleblower says by the time the data transfer between Ascension and Google is completed next March, it will have passed the personal data of 50 million patients to Google.”]
