Plans Would End NSA Collection Program

President Obama, bipartisan group of House members offer separate but similar plans to end NSA collection of phone records. The White House proposal calls for ending the National Security Agency’s collection of metadata about Americans’ phone calls. The House bill would require the government to obtain court approval before seeking the records. Privacy advocates object to the president’s proposal because it only applies to phone records and not e-mails. The bill also would prohibit the government from using the new targeted metadata procedure to obtain the content of any communications or any personal information.”]
