The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards Council held its North American Community Meeting in Orlando, Florida. The council is only a recommendations body – not an enforcer — but it’s expected guidance regarding emerging technologies, encryption and globalization are the top three recommendations emerging from the U.S. meeting. “Sunrise” compliance date for versions 2.0 is January 2012; and the old standards won’t be retired until December 2011, head of European head of the PCI Council says. The final version of the standards will take effect Jan. 1; compliance is due to take effect in October.”]
