A Congressional subcommittee conducted a hearing on the Payment Card Industry Data Standards last week. The hearing was held by the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science and Technology Committee. The committee chair called for the U.S. payment system to move toward chip and PIN technology used in Europe as a way to thwart increased number of data breaches and fraud.
