The Department of Justice has launched a marketing campaign to respond to criticism of the Patriot Act. The marketing of the act, and not its merits, may determine its fate. A Fox News/Opinion Dynamics statistic in July found that 91 percent of voters don’t think the act has affected their civil liberties. A CBS News poll two months earlier found 52 percent of Americans were either “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about losing civil liberties. A spokesman says security concerns have been addressed with town hall meetings across the country.”]
