Passwords: A long goodbye

The campaign to eliminate passwords has been ongoing, and growing, for close to a decade. The goal of FIDO, a nonprofit created in 2012, is to supplant passwords with what it calls, an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms, for secure authentication.
