An undercover Russian intelligence officer recruited an employee of Toshiba Discrete Semiconductor Technology in Japan. The information was passed on to the officer via “smart memory cards” The technology was of sufficient importance to the Russian Federation that it used its most valuable intelligence resource (an undercover intelligence officer) to acquire Toshiba’s intellectual property.
