Rep. Elijah Cummings sent a letter to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Rep. Cummings said OPM’s Cylance security tool spotted the malware five days before forensics vendor CyTech Services did. CyTech CEO Ben Cotton says he didn’t claim to be the first to discover the malware on OPM systems. OPM did not offer a direct comment on the letter documenting the new information, but instead referred to the agencys comments mentioned in Cummings letter. Of the 19.7 million people who had applied for the background-check, 1.1 million fingerprint scans were exposed as well as the remaining 1.8 million people affected.”]
